Jeddah Islamic Port among the best of world ports

Shippingchina.com, a website specialized in maritime and shipping industry has announced its 2009 global ports ranking. Jeddah Islamic Port (JIP) was ranked 19 among world ports.
This questionnaire-based ranking is being conducted for the sixth year. The ranking is based on viewpoints of those working in shipping sector including importers, exporters, shipping companies and research centers in China, Hong Kong, Maco and Taiwan. According to this questionnaire, points were given to the different ports, based on the following elements:
1- Loading efficiency
2- Port charges
3- Information service
4- Troubleshooting
5- International Standard
Jeddah Islamic Port scored 3.3 points and thus classified among the four stars group which also includes the ports of: Barcelona, Melbourne, Klang, Vancouver, Mumbai, Tokyo and Manila.
The ports that got five stars classification are: Hamburg, Singapore, Rotterdam, Antwerp, DP World, Busan, Yokohama, Le Havre and the Port of Long Beach
