Location of Jubail Commercial Port: The location of jubail Commercial Port was chosen with special care, due to the depth of adjacent waters.it lies on the eastern of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, overlooking the Arabian Gulf, at a distance of 80 kilometers, north of Dammam City. Geographical Location: Longitude : 49.40 E Latitude : 27.01 N Port’s Economic Significance: Jubail Commercial Port is Considered as a vital economic facility due to its effective role in supporting the exports and imports in the eastern province of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and as this port is characterized by proximity to the production centers, this shall help in reducing the costs of importing and exporting commodities, and facilitate transportation of exports to international markets with high efficiency. This port played an effective role in reducing the burden shouldered by king Abdulaziz port in Dammam, therby , facilitated export and import operations, in addition to its distinguished social role in providing job opportunities for a large number of citizens. it, also directly reinforces and supports the private national sector, by assigning that, the port is playing a vital role in the exportation of fishing products of the companies operating in Jubail industrial area (Jubail 1), and it is expected to play active role in export and import to meet the needs of (Jubail 2). It is expected that, the geographical area of the port activities, shall be extended upon the completion of the railway line connecting Jubail city (or specially the port) to Riyadh, and the other regions of the kingdom. General Description of Port Facilities Area Installations Control Tower: The Control Tower rises to a height of 52 meters above the sea level. It contained a Port Control Room, which supervises the traffic of all ships that are incoming, departing, or crossing the navigational canals and anchorage area, through radar monitoring and VHF radio communication, on channels 16, 67 and 73. Distribution of port’s Berthes: The port contains 16 berthes with a total length of 3780 meters, which are distributed as follows: (5) berthes For general cargo handling. (2) berthes For bulk grains handling terminal. (2) berthes For Port Marine crafts. (3) berthes For visiting ships. (4) berthes (3 for general cargo +1 for bulk cargo ), to be used at times of peak activity, or as per port needs. In addition to: (2) berthes At the shallow waters area, with a total length of 440 meters. (2) berthes At the fishing harbour, with a total length of 320 Meters. The port is furnished with various modern equipments, for handling all kinds of goods: (General goods, Bulk goods, Containers). The equipments include the following: · Mobile cranes to work on ships and courtyards (with load capacities of 36, 40, and 55 tons). · Fork-Lifts with different load capacities. · Head trucks and trailers. · Mobile lighting towers. · Hoppers and crabs, with capacities ranging from 3 to 15m3 for handling bulk cargo. 2. Different equipments to secure maintenance services. (Dump truck, diggers, street sweeping machines). 3. A fleet of different types of cars: (medium passenger cars, pick-ups, jeeps, and buses). Fuel tanks and a gasoline station, which belong to the port. 4. Pumps and different water supply lines(potable water, saline water, and irrigation water). 5. 2 sewage water Treatment stations, which will be used for irrigation, and also sewage wells draining trucks. 6. Incinerator, garbage collecting trucks, and other trucks for lifting garbage containers. 7. 32 truck weigh bridges (with load capacity of 60 tons), of “Avery” trademark, which are operated electronically and mechanically to weigh trucks, around the clock. Description of Services Provided by Port Stations First: general cargo and Bulk Raw Materials Handling Station Equipments: (Equipment which were Handed over to contractors) 1. Fort-lift with different capacities, ranging from (2) tonsto (35) tons (a total number of 75 fork-lifts). 2. Mobile cranes assigned to work on berth and ships with capacities ranging from 36 tons to tons (a total number of 11 cranes). 3. One floating crane with a capacity of 200 tons. 4. 14 head Trucks. 5. 14 low-bed trailers (with a capacity ranging from 10 to 100 tons). 6. 16 high-bed trailers (with a capacity ranging from 40 to 120 tons).
General cargo and bulk raw materials: There are (3) berth available to contractor for handling general cargo or bulk raw materials. Performance Rates: · Handling rate for general cargo is 1500 tons per day. · Handling rate for bulk raw materials is 3000 tons per day. Second: Bulk Grains Terminal: (Equipements handed over to contractors) 2 Bulk Grains unloading equipments, with a capacity of 200 tons/hours. 3 Bulk grains unloading equipments, with a capacity of 80 tons/ hours. Performance Rates: · The rate of unloading is from 5000 to 6000 tons / day (direct delivery system), depending on the number of available trucks provided by consignees. Third: Container and Ro-Ro Station: · It has two (2) berthes, berth No. 15 and berth No. 16, with a depth of 14 meters , and a length of 250 meters, For each berth. It is equipped with stern ramp 50 meters wide and quarter ramp 25 meter wide for Ro-Ro vessels. Specifications of Containers Station and Storage Courtyards: Station total area : 135,000m2 Containers storage courtyard : 100,000m2 Storage capacity : 14,000 teus 120 plug-in facilities for reefer containers (480 volts, 60 cycles) The containers freight station, consists of 4 sheds, with a total area of 18,000m2. Containers Handling Equipments: 2 Gantry Cranes, with a load capacity of 30.5 tons (Portainer). 3 Containers lift, with a load capacity of 30 tons (Transtainer) 7 Container Spreader. 16 Hi-bed Trailer. 12 Fork-lift, for packing and unloading containers, with a load Capacity of 2 tons. 4 Top loaders 35 tons capacity. Handling Rates: · 20 units /hour. Facilities and Services Provided by the Port Marine facilities and Services: The Port has a fleet of marine crafts such as tug boats, pilot boats, and mooring boats, in sufficient numbers, which will enable it to perform the maneuvering operations required for ships arrival and departure, under various weather conditions, in a safe way and without any delay. The port also has a floating crane, with a maximum load capacity of 200 tons, which provides, together with this fleet, best marine and operation services. Communication Services Provided by the Port: · Mobile and Stationary Radio Transmitters and Receivers: Transmission frequency: 157,700 mega hertz Receiving frequency : 159,300 mega hertz · Direct and internal telephone System: A total amount of (111) telephone lines out of which (19) are international and (25) are local. · Radio System for marine frequencies, to be used when working with the ships: VHF systems to be used on channel (16), and internal work channels (67 and 73). Fire /safety facility at Jubail Commercial Port: 1. Two fire stations with fully equipped vehicles and trained brigades for around the clock alertness (one main fire station inside port and one sub fire station at housing complex). 2. Nine equipped fire fighting vehicles (pumper) two specialized rescue units. 3. Two water tankers total capacity of 44,000 liters. 4. One foam Trailer. 5. One fire pump house for fire hydrants and hose reels. 6. Fire drill / Training ground and drill tower. 7. Fire and safety control center around clock alertness connected to all zone fire alarm system in the main panel board. 8. Two clinics with medical facilities. (One in main fire station and an other clinic in housing complex). 9. Dangerous gods storage building specified with classification of Hazards (510 buildings). 10. Three emergency sirens installed at various locations inside the port. 11. All electrical sub stations and computer center have automatic fire Protection system and fire alarm system connected to fire station main panel board. 12. Thirteen patrolling and utility vehicales. 13. Two fully equipped ambulances (one Ambulance at main fire station and an other one at housing complex). 14. Adequate stock of foam and dry powder in main station stock room (ware-house No. 12) 15. 13 traffic patrol cars. 16. Ten breathing apparatus. 17. Fire extinguishers (Dry powder / Co2 / water Hallon / Foam). 18. Fire extinguishers refill and re-charging facility and B.A. refilling unit. Buildings and Courtyards 1. Port main workshops complex and maintenance subsidiary sheds inside courtyards. 2. Internal Dangerous Goods Warehouse with an area of 1, 800m2. 3. External storage Goods warehouse which are two warehouses with a total area of 18,000m2. 4. Internal storage warehouses which are ten (10) warehouses with a total storage area of 87,000m2. 5. Internal open storage courtyards with a total storage area of 450,000m2. 6. External open storage courtyards with a total storage area of 900,000m2.
